Shoreham Pottery - before the move

2026

Captured during Shoreham Pottery’s final days in its old studio in the heart of Shoreham.

A potter in a teal T-shirt and grey apron smiles as she works clay at her bench. A hand lifts a red mug from a crate of glazed pots and plates. A potter in an apron fills a Help Yourself box with pots by the studio door. A tall white bird-shaped jug with an orange beak stands among glazed pots on a shelf. A potter tapes up a cardboard box among the studio shelves. Two potters in aprons sort through a tin of tools, one of them smiling. Dark glazed pots on a shelf in the foreground, with two potters working in the studio beyond. White mugs with line-drawn animals sit on a shelf below a hanging key. A potter in a striped apron smiles down at her work. Clay-covered hands rinse a red pot under the tap. A potter in a black apron dries her hands on a towel, smiling. A woven basket holds dried leaves, a pine cone and a sponge among studio clutter. A potter holds up a small clay figure of a cat, mid-sentence. A finished bowl rests on a banding wheel by the studio window. A potter in a teal T-shirt grins at a smooth unglazed clay sphere in her hands. Two hands cradle a round unglazed clay vessel. A wooden tray of old letterpress stamps on a dusty workbench. A potter in a black vest reaches into a bowl at a cluttered glaze bench. A potter bends over cardboard boxes, packing the studio up. A potter in an apron laughs as she wraps a bottle in a cloth. Two potters in aprons stand side by side at the studio sink. A potter with her hair tied up works at a bench in front of a chalkboard. A potter in a teal T-shirt smiles as she sorts pieces at the bench. A potter seals a box marked fragile with a tape gun. A potter sits on a stool among half-empty shelves, wrapping a pot. A small clay whale sits on a ledge by the window, coated in dust. A sign on the window reads: We are moving! In September come and find us at the Lady Bee Marina, Southwick. Two potters walk down the street out of the studio, each carrying pots. Empty wooden shelves and packed boxes beside a kiln in the stripped-out studio. A potter peers out from a stack of cardboard boxes by the window. A potter sits inside a large cardboard box, hands pressed together, looking up. A potter in a black apron leans over boxes while a colleague packs beside her. A potter sits in a cardboard box with her face in her hands. The front of the Shoreham Pottery shop, with notices in the window and a car parked outside. A chalkboard of hand-written throwing steps above a clock on the studio wall.
